Madison McKinley: Damages Season 4 - Madison Garton

Madison McKinley, reality star, actress and model, is probably best known for her work on ABCs "The Bachelor - Season 15," where she was a contestant in the Spring of 2011. You may not recognize her given name, but as a contestant on the popular reality series she was nicknamed "Fang Girl," which is how you may recognize her. There's no doubt that McKinley gained infamy on the Bachelor, but she made waves when she appeared topless on DIRECTV Network's "Damages," July 27, 2011 (Season 4, episode 3 - I'd Prefer My Old Office). Perhaps this career move will bring her further notoriety, or perhaps it will launch her budding acting career.
Madison McKinley, born Madison Garton, the 25 year old blond bombshell was born in Vail, Colorado, where she grew up and attended the Vail Mountain School. Her modeling career began in high school, when she tried out for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Calender. Although she didn't quite make it, she was noticed by a top modeling agency and moved to New York City, where she began her modeling and acting career.
McKinley's credits begin all the way back in 2007, when she appeared on NBCs "30 Rock." Her breakout year was in 2009, when she appeared on "Kings," "Michael and Michael Have Issues," and the popular "Rescue Me," Although the producers of "The Bachelor" had a policy of not hiring actresses as contestants, they saw that she had the it factor, and brought her in to the show, where she clearly made waves.
McKinley seems to have a "thing" for vampires, and when she moved to NYC, she had temporary vampire fang implants installed. Although she didn't wear them on her previous television and modeling appearances, she did on "The Bachelor." Brad Womack, the Bachelor, was smitten by her looks and personality, and actually found the fangs "hot." Of course, this drew the consternation of fellow contestants, who clearly thought she was a weird little girl, playing games. And thus, McKinley's notoriety was born - "Fang Girl" clearly has negative connotations.
Fast forward to July 27, 2011, when McKinley appeared as a model on DIRECTV "Damages," starring Glenn Close. For the first time in her acting and modeling career, she bared her breasts for all the world to see. The blogosphere went nuts - was this just another publicity stunt to gain fame recognition?
Let's look at the "controversial" appearance. First of all, she was not in a sex scene, nor did she show full frontal nudity. The scene itself wasn't gratuitous. She was sleeping in bed, with the ruffled covers not fully covering her. It was harmless and real. Of course, there was a naked man and woman in the bed, but that was germane to the plot. So, what's the big deal about Madison McKinley going topless for "Damages?"
For now, McKinley's toplessness is a one-time thing. It wasn't gratuitous, nor was it a shocking sex scene. It wasn't full-frontal, nor was it "full rear," which another actress in that episode was. So, was it a publicity stunt by Fang Girl, or was it a natural progression in her acting career, and one that any actress on "Damages" would do? You can decide for yourself. As you're deciding, keep in mind that she wasn't topless in her appearance in the new Smurfs movie either.
