Harry Potter: The Hit Series

Harry Potter the wizard has found his way into the hearts of millions worldwide. The character created by British author J.K. Rowling began gaining popularity since his introduction back in 1997. Since then, six other books were written and all of them became major motion pictures. 450 million copies of the books have been sold as of June 2011. The books have been translated into 67 different languages.
The book series is about a young wizard named Harry Potter. He is an orphan who is forced to live with his unruly Aunt and Uncle who took him in after his parents died. They are extremely cruel to him and never treat them the same as they treat their own son. Harry Potter's life changes significantly when he finds out that he is a wizard. He is destined for great things and is faced with vast responsibilities.
Along with two friends, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley, Harry encounters lots of adventure. The series features mythical creatures like dragons, werewolves, mermaids, trolls, giants, and many more. The three of them attend the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry to learn how to use magic.
Harry soon learns that everyone knows his name and that he is the key to defeating the most powerful dark wizard, Lord Voldemort. Lord Voldemort was responsible for the death of his parents which Harry witnessed as an infant. His parents did not want to use their magic for evil so Lord Voldemort killed them. He tried to kill Harry as well but failed only leaving him with a small lightning shaped scar on his forehead. Lord Voldemort knew that one day Harry would try to defeat him and that he was the only one that stood in the way of world domination.
J.K. Rowling wrote seven books in the series. The books are titled HP and the Philosopher's Stone, HP and the Chamber of Secrets, HP and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, HP and the Order of the Phoenix, HP and the Half Blood Prince, and HP and the Deathly Hollows. Each book takes place in one year of Harry's training at Hogwarts.
The Harry Potter book series is enjoyed by individuals of all ages and in many different countries. It was an instant hit and has been made into everything from a lunch box to a theme park attraction.
